Paragliding

There is an abundance of fantastic paragliding near Geneva and Annecy, and on our doorstep it is very common to see tandem paragliding in La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand too. The scenery is stunning and the calm summer weather lends itself perfectly to paragliding in this part of the French Alps.

The most famous paragliding spot in Annecy is at Montmin (Col de la Forclaz), a 30 minute drive from St Jean de Sixt where the lodge is based. 800m above the lake, there is a carpeted take off point from which you will be sent soaring over Annecy lake, paragliding, catching thermals, and gliding amongst the striking mountains that surround it.

Many people take off paragliding from the top of Mt Lachat, Grand Bornand, (during the main summer months the chairlifts are open). From the top, there are panoramic views of the Aravis range, and a long paragliding flight awaits you.

Paragliding in La Clusaz, many people drive or take chair lifts to the Cret de Loup, from where you can paraglide over the main Combes of the Aravis and back into La Clusaz.

Alpine Thrills Packages

We can organise a tandem paragliding session in La Clusaz or Le Grand Bornand as part of your activity break. It will only be a few hours all in all, but many people consider it to be one of the best things they have ever done. You might well be back to do a full paragliding course!

Our very own Jack caught Paragliding down at Annecy (whilst celebrating his 70th Birthday!):

...and you probably won't be trying this, but worth watching this amazing video of some of the region's better paragliders on some clear winters days above Grand Bornand.
